Grades 6–8 · Free classroom pilot

Can we trust this?

An AI summary recommends a new system for the school garden. Help your class separate a convincing answer from a supported claim.

Four 45-minute sessions. Start with paper and discussion; use a shared screen when it helps. No student accounts, live AI service, or individual devices required.

Pilot materials, not a validated assessment or a claim of curriculum certification. Classroom use permission.

Prepare in about 10 minutes

One case. Evidence your learners can inspect.

1. Read and choose

Read the facilitator notes and the session-one garden case. Check your school’s approval, accessibility, and screen-use rules.

2. Print or project

The PDF includes worksheets and facilitation guidance. Use paper for individual answers. Save the projection page before class if you need it offline.

3. Ask for reasons

Ask each learner to name a source, a limitation, and a next check. Hear their reasons before revealing the discussion notes.

4. Return to the skill

Bring a new claim to the next session. Use the final transfer activity to see how learners apply the method in a different setting.

Your four-session sequence

  1. Follow the evidence

Compare the garden claim with a small trial, an advertisement, and a groundskeeper’s note.

  2. A better prompt is not enough

Inspect authored AI-style replies. Find the detail that sounds useful but has no supporting source.

  3. Make a decision together

Weigh the evidence, affected people, and limits before recommending a next step.

  4. Use the method somewhere new

Apply the checks to a fictional library display proposal. Explain what evidence would change your decision.

People, organisations, measurements, and AI-style replies in the activity are fictional. The slides do not generate responses or accept student input.

Using a shared device

Start Classroom Mode before handing over the device. Temporary session work clears on ending, timeout, backgrounding, or app restart. Personal profiles stay saved separately.

Profiles and the adult check are not passwords. Keep individual work on paper, avoid student names on the shared screen, and review reports before choosing to share them.

Read the data-handling details

Tell us how the lesson went.

Teachers can send a short note about what worked, what confused learners, and whether they would run a second session. Please do not send student names, photos, grades, or work samples.

Email teacher feedback

Sending feedback is optional. It does not subscribe you to marketing emails. How correspondence is handled.
